abt the Bread }

Frances Tarless renewed her Complaint that she had not her Bread as the other Paupers had, Mr. Burrow assigned the reason, was she would not work though able & that She had her allowances as much as any other, which she admitted

Jan 30th 1796

Frances Tarless applied for two Shifts; her behavior to the Committee was so rude and insulting her request was not complied with

Frances Tarless applied for cloathing but on account of her improper behaviour the granting of it was postponed (194)

Nov 27th 1797

Frances Tarless complained that Mr Tipple had used her ill and took her by force out of the Room where she was and put her into another Mr Tipple was called in and she stated her complaint in his presence but it appeared that she had assaulted and ill used Mary Collins and upon

her being desired by Mr Tipple to go out of the Room she had refused and abused him and he was compelled to use force.

28th Oct 1799

Frances Tarless applied for a weekly pension which was refused

Mr. Smith at whose house Frances Tarless had lodged at 3 pounds per Week and who had not been paid since the 15th of June desired to know if the parish would pay the arrear of Rent. But no order was made.

Aug 24th 1800

Frances Tarless complained that Mr Tipple had stop’t giving her the allowance of bread upon which Mr. Tipple was called in and asked the reason and he stated that it was because she had refused to work - Five elderly paupers were then called in and not one of them could say that Mr or Mrs Tipple had used any one in the house improperly and that Mrs. Tarless had behaved exceedingly ill and occasioned great disturbances. She was reprimanded by the Committee and having been refused permission to leave the House she afterwards made her escape.

Aug 25th 1800

Ordered that Frances Tarless’s arrear of Rent due to Mr Smith be paid being three pounds.
